THE WAVE long sling

Wrap woven for the German HerbstComp 2022 weaving competition, where it won 2nd place in the admin vote and 3rd place in the offline vote. Competition theme: music.

This song reminds me of a wave. Sometimes calm and subdued, other times it pushes violently, but constantly moves forward.

The wrap is a story, starting in deep space, waves of light turn into waves of water, to slowly emerge, just to strike as an unstoppable wave. Then, at the end, there is only silence.

The first step is just like the wave, the series of events begins, we never know what comes next until we take it, but it cannot be stopped or taken back. It can take us only further. Where does it take you?

The wrap is made of rough tussah silk, which feels and looks like sand. The weft, on the other hand, is slub mulberry silk, which adds a wavy structure to the irregular wavy pattern itself. White inlays and irregular leno laces resemble the foam when the wave reaches the shore. The pattern is designed by the weaver for this wrap.

Handwven baby wrap, looser weave, irregular leno laces in form of a wave and irregular lighter end, hemstitched edges, no middle marker.
